For it to be over priced, it has to be like 12 bucks like what best buy charges.
I feel like Radio Shack prices vary depending on the area, I live in SF which is arguably one of the most expensive places. Will stop by a local shop and see whether I can find what you're talking about.

If I were to buy replacement buds/headphones the bass would have to be of the same quality or better. I listen to a lot of electronic music and metal (kind of makes it hard), plus play BF3, The split between the two is about 60/40 (music/games). The most common problem that I've run into with over ear headphones is that they start hurting my ears from the pressure after about 20 minutes of wear, although I haven't really tried many high end sets.
Again the price is preferably below $100 but I'd be willing to spend a bit more if the quality upgrade is significant enough. Keep in mind that I'm currently using onboard sound with plans to build a new rig with a discrete sound card probably a year from now.
