Windows 8 PC starts up by itself!!

Hello,

I need some help. I am at lost. Been researching and troubleshooting for a week now.
Every since last Wednesday, my pc has been coming on by itself between 6 and 7:00am.
This is not from a sleep or hibernation state, this is from a complete shut down!!! I have disabled wake on LAN, been through scheduled tasks, made sure my mouse and any other device is not set to wake the pc, but it still keeps doing it. The only thing I have done different is I have recently disabled hibernate to gain some ssd space. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!!!!

Specs:
ASUS p8z77-v mobo
intel i5 3570k
16 gb corsair ddr3 ram
windows 8 pro....

Thx!!!!

Windows 8 does a hybrid shutdown where the kernel is hibernated but the rest of the system is shut down. If there are updates or other things that the kernel is addressing perhaps it'll wake up. Try using this shutdown syntax under the CMD with admin privileges: shutdown /s /f /t 0

Thx!!!ill try that when I get home from work....quick question, will that change be persistent or would I have to do that before every shutdown?

Thx for the quick reply!!!

If you unplug it from the wall does it still turn on? eek.gif

^ I agree with the guy above, the kernel is probably booting up to run some tasks. Something to do with the Quick Boot thing with Win8.

Is wake up on LAN enabled? That the only thing I can think of if the router comes into play.

E: ignore me, just read your first post again smile.gif

Yeah, disable wake on LAN in the BIOS, I thought that was what you'd already done.
