X-Fi Driver Install Hung/Hangs @ APOIM Mark, Plz Help!!!

Ok so I was trying the new PAX Drivers that were released a short time ago over on Hardware Heaven. Either when I was trying to remove the existing PAX driver or when I was trying to install the new 2013 PAX driver for my Prelude the thing hangs up right at APOIM and just completely locks her up solid instantly. Now if I try to install or uninstall any related X-Fi Driver (even officials), it locks up every time right at the same place (APOIM). I have tried pulling from my bag of tricks like using Revo Uninstaller Pro or doing a System File Checker command prompt (did nothing different/found nothing wrong) and I am started to pull my hair out.

I started to do some reading and I found out what APOIM is and went into System32 to make sure it was there, well it wasn't. APOIM64.dll isn't there, only APOMgr.dll. So I thought well maybe APOIM.exe won't launch (it also freezes instantly) because the Mgr.dll file was left over and still registered, so I unregistered it and deleted it from System32 and SysWOW64 and tried everything again with all results the same. This has SERIOUSLY screwed up my primary PC for gaming and work and I need help.

You are probably wondering why I didn't just System Restore back to before the crash, well System restore is throwing up a 0000022 error and every time it throws the error I lose one of my points.. This is a huge cluster... and I'm about to wipe the install and just start fresh again.

Can anyone give me any ideas before I just say F it and wipe it clean?

If there is any info you need just ask and I'll give it, but if I can't solve this soon, I'll be wiping her clean.

Did you try Driver Sweeper, I only use the oldish version 2.1 .. maybe it can find something that remains hidden still somewhere? Can you find eventlog showing anything after it freezes, maybe pointing to somewhere you haven't looked yet.

I tried Driver Sweeper and Driver Cleaner.NET Pro

I can remove all remnants of the driver package install, but I can't run any official package (or PAX) to install it back. All I can do is point device manager at the driver location so I have a base working sound card.

I feel like there is a certain order to do this in and it will magically work again or something to fix the APOIM issue, I just don't know what it is...

If anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it, as I really don't want to wipe this computer...

Can someone with a X-Fi card check if they have a file called APIOM64/32.dll in C:\Windows\System32 or C:\Windows\SysWOW64 for reference? That way I will know if I am actually missing the file or if the problem lies elsewhere. Shouldn't take you but 30 seconds or so to check for me and the information would be tremendously important to me.

This is all I see for my card, nothing else.

APOMngr.DLL in \SysWOW64

APOMgr64.DLL in \system32

hmmm, thanks for that info

I wonder why in the hell there are multiple sources online saying there should be an APOIM64.dll

I'm guessing you are on W7 also?

Running Win8 as per sig, I think the driver for Win7/8 is the same though not sure.
