Help picking a new mobile carrier

My contract with T-Mobile is about to expire, so I need a new plan. Which carriers offer the best bang for the buck?

I was looking into Metro PCS, Virgin Mobile, and Boost Mobile. None of the major carriers are affordable to me. I can spend about $50/month, but that's all I can afford at the moment.
I need a smartphone with at least 3G. I use about 500MB of Data, 450 minutes, and I need unlimited texting. Just looking for something that will fit my budget.

My current phone is an LG G2X. I would like a phone that's at least as powerful as that, but I'm not willing to spend a ton on it. If I could use the same phone, that works too.

So what do you guys think? I'd like to hear your experiences with these carriers, or any similar ones.

T-Mobile has a plan EXACTLY like that on all the main towers with unlimited everything but 500mb of data. Just change to the plan and buy the phone Full out or Bring a phone or use your current. No need to change carriers

The lack of service is another reason why I'm switching from T-Mobile. They have the worst reception in my area. At least half of my calls are dropped unless I'm on Wi-Fi. Basically, I'm looking for any carrier but them.
