Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Hell, I downloaded season 1 before it came out on disk then ran out on day one release to buy the blueray box set. Have the bluray box set for season 2. Was I wrong to do so? Technically yes and it is a huge grey area. I know many don't do what I did, I only downloaded it because I couldn't wait that long to watch it as I was not able to get HBO.

i really hope that all the cable companies and media companies don't merge (like comcast buying nbc). that's pretty much a nightmare scenario for innovation. why do cable companies believe we should pay for internet+tv, it's totally idiotic. especially if we can't use that broadband (legitimately) streaming media, what's the point of high speed internet (i know there are other purposes but still).

There are plenty of marketing models that support word of mouth creating viewership, when you have viewers you have dollars. The dollars might not come instantly, but they will come.

The show is almost spot on to the books, which (baring the 4th book) are some of the best fantasy I have ever read. It is an impressive show in its own right and has an excellent cast, but the plot is true to the story and really enriches the Song of Ice and Fire universe. Most books converted to movies or shows are botched and lose the air of the story when being transferred to film, but not in this case. I would go so far as to say, for the budget it is as well done as The Lord of the Rings.

But isn't the show still going? If this many people are downloading the show to "try it out" then a lot should be subscribing to watch it according to that theory...or at least buying the season disk.

I have read a couple of the books...I should really pick up the rest. They were pretty good. I might get the show if it comes out on Netflix or something...the only trouble is that HBO shows are typically borderline porn. Not my cup of tea.

The cost of premium channels like HBO is preposterous. If they want subscribers, stop killing potential customers.

The Game Of Thrones website should just host their own download / donate button lol. Donate/buy merchandize and or just click buy next to the season/show and a download starts.

The sad thing is that the subscription on HBO online in denmark binds you for 6 months :S
I´ve read the books, the show is still good ?

Very much so. It's amazing to see the world of ASOIAF come to life on the screen and it's very well cast and also different enough from the books to keep you guessing a bit (like The Walking Dead).

As for the "major event" I am not sure that will be this season or next they way they are breaking it up...

It will definitely be the season finale. How could it not?

Heh, but then I am looking for a show with a good story that I could watch with my wife. If I want something else there are million B movies out there that I can watch with my friends in the man cave.

Eh.. there is definitely some boobs around, and some sex scenes that get a little graphic, but there is largely a lull where it slowed down and was just more of an additional eye candy role. They set the scene, air and tempo of the series.. without them the show would be different and not necessarily for the better. Some of the more brutal / suggestive scenes are used to quickly turn you for or against certain characters.
