Another 512 or a new Gb stick?

Thread Starter
I'm looking to upgrade my ram to a Gb for X-mas, and wanted to know if I should pick up another 512Mb or get a 1Gb stick. I have an HP and can't OC w/o a program so I think I'm sticking with PC3200. I'd like an inexpensive solution, can anyone link some ram? Thanks.

1GB is your best solution.

Once you break the 1Gb barrier you'll never want to go back. Go for as much RAM as possible

Agreed, 1 gb. stick added to your original stick of 512 with the same timings will help you more than a matched set of dual channel.
1.5 gb better than a set of 1gb.
To make it work you'll have to relax your timings a bit, but your bios is prolly
already set to "auto" being a HP.
Go for Value ram because good ram couldn't be fully utilized unless your bios
will allow timing setting changes.

You mean my HP bios will auto set my timings? They're at 3-3-2-7 now. Could you elaborate more? Any links for 184 pin PC3200 DDR SDRAM that you guys would suggest? I'd like to spend only about $50.
