Defaulting to apps or whatever it was doing (I've been using Win7 so much more lately as I haven't been gaming) was rather annoying. The search in Win7 and Vista was perfect. Hit the windows key, type, bam, you got what you were looking for.

Download bring startisback.

Brings back windows start botton and the search

I wonder if Windows 8.1 will be what people are wanting?

A First party implementation of something like Start 8 would kill most of the forum hate for Windows8. My only beef with the OS is that File Explorer Detail Pane is on the right side instead of on the bottom.

Most likely the windows 8 hate group will not be satisfied unless it brings back start button, and ditches metro. So not likely.

I personally felt 8 was awkward, just messing with it at store, but Im sure I could get used to it. Meh

I can't throw in an inb4 and certain people (they know who they are) can blatantly troll the subject and get away with it.

Just because trolls exist on one side of a debate doesn't give you the right to troll the other side of the debate. You're all over W8 threads taking the criticism as personally as if it were smack talk about your own grandma, dude. I would see this mod-edit as a good time to reevaluate your own trolling, & maybe approach the discussion with maturity and eloquence, rather than a cheap "inb4" comment. This isn't 4chan, after all.

That said, if a mod edits a comment I would expect him to write *mod edit* in said comment. Otherwise it just feels like sneaky censorship.

Been forced to use 8 for about 2 weeks now while configuring client machines, it's such a pain in the butt to get to certain places. Backup and Restore in Windows 7 took about 2-3 clicks, now its buried really deep in the OS and is a joke with regards to functionality. M$ really bombed on Windows 8, they should at least give you the option to disable metro and go back to the classic style without having to download some 3rd party application.

My clients are going to rage when they see Windows 8 on their new laptops because it's a day long learning curve just to navigate metro, and get to the files you need, it's just way to difficult to get to simple things. /end rant

Make fun of me all you want and say I'm a complainer and hater, what have you, but I'm at I.T. Engineer (10 years strong) for a large firm with over 100 business clients in the Atlanta area and Windows 8 just makes people angry, including me.

I think they might rage less if you recommended they use Start 8?

Or MS could make an OS that didn't require third party solutions to bring back basic functionality.

Start8: So they can pay for basic function that should never have been removed. LOL.

Functionality, which notably existed in their product previously. Seems pretty simple. Just add an option to disable metro and/or bring back classic start button. I wouldn't mind having both options.

Options are good. Most people like choices smile.gif

You clearly don't work in IT do you? I'm not going to reconfigure an image every 30 days because someone doesn't like it. Trial versions... LOL really? REALLY!? Yeah cause that's enterprise class.

I try to do installs once, you do realize that installing enterprise class programs, getting things mapped, installing scripts, drivers, configurations all take A LOT of billable time. If I told my client in 30 days I'm going to have to re-do you're entire workstation they would like at me like I'm insane, we charge 150$ per billable hour of work.
