Yes. That. But we can always remember the good old days, when there was canon we could follow, and it was all cornered under one roof.
That will probably change, however...

...And if you expected something other that a WOW clone with lightsabers, you were, in effect, expecting them to sell a business / game model that would not succeed.
But you ARE right, it is Star Wars, and the SW fans like me will gladly play it. Obviously I'm biased, but that does not lessen the validity of my opinion.

Screw Star Wars (except battlefront 3), I'm way more mad about what this means for monkey island...

What a stupid move by Disney.

Do they not know what battlefront could do in the FPS genre?

Damn.

That's a kick in the gut.

I was practically raised by LucalArts and LucasfilmGames flight sims.

SWOTL and TIE Fighter are probably the reason I use inverted mouse controls to this day.

In reality while it sucks for the developers who probably put their heart and soul into some of the titles Lucas Arts put out and got laid off, seriously did none of the people on this forum see this coming? What I see is that Lucas Arts hadn't released a AAA title in almost five years, sorry but Force Unleashed 2 was so bad it doesn't count. The only game they released of any note in the last two years was Star Wars Kinect, an abysmal attempt to cash in on a terrible trend.

For a studio that helped define what PC gaming would be, to come to the point of Star Wars Kinect shows there was a total lack of any real direction or leadership. I mean seriously who would give the green light to Han Solo dancing in the carbonite chamber? It's been a long time since Lucas Arts has released a game that was worthy of it's former legacy. It's been more than a decade since we've seen anything truly original come out of Lucas Arts.

Battlefront 1 and 2... Battlefield
Force Unleashed... God of War
1313... Uncharted

The Battlefront and Force Unleashed weren't bad but they weren't stellar either. Unchart... er 1313 was probably canceled due to the project being a complete mess. Remember that Colonial Marines looked pretty damn good too before we got to play it...

It's sad to see the studio die because I have incredibly fond memories of their earlier titles. The X-wing and TIE fighter games will always hold a special place in my heart, Monkey Island, Full Throttle, Jedi Outcast, the list goes on. But seeing games like Force Unleashed 2 and Star Wars Kinect, combined with a lack of any sort of output in general shows the studio was clearly suffering from super critical internal and managerial problems.

here's the reason why this will fail: branding. disney wants a franchise they can sell to kids. lucas basically felt the same way (hence the style of the recent movies). even if a mature sw game would do well, disney doesn't see it as worth it. they want to target the younger crowd and if sw is seen as too mature, parents are less likely to want their kids to buy sw stuff.

with the new licensing scheme, i suppose there is a lot more potential for new games, so there's always a chance. but the younger market is too valuable in a lot of ways (look at how profitable Justin Beiber and Hanna Montana are)

LOL...

When I suggested that Bioware or Bethesda pickup some Star Wars IPs I was just going off that they like to make fantasy sci-fi games and are decent at them...IE Mass Effect and Fallout. They couldn't just reskin something for a Star Wars theme...well shouldn't at least.

I'm sure Disney has something planned for the 40th anniversary of Star Wars.

Good lord, I just realized, they have been milking this IP for almost 40 years now.

CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v62), quality = 90

Remember this guys? Why can't we have ANOTHER Jedi Knight game? This proves you that the community is still MUCH alive in jk2files.

I don't see why DISNEY can't know about this and especially how strong the PC community is!

GIVE US ANOTHER JEDI KNIGHT GAME!

But no you had to LISTEN to Mickey Mouse!rolleyes.gif
