will 2133 ram work in a 1600 slot before oc

Thread Starter
i am trying to pic my ram and plan on doing a little overclocking. my rig will support DDR3 1066/1333/1600/1866*/2000*/2133*(OC), 2200*/2400*/2600*/2667*/2800*(OC, 22nm CPU required). the * are oc speed. i want to buy some (CORSAIR Dominator Platinum 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 Desktop Memory Model CMD8GX3M2B2133C9) i assume it will work in my board just running at a slower speed is this correct.

All you will have to do is manually select DDR3-2133 in the BIOS and it will work. The "oc" means you have to manually set the memory to its rated speed because those speeds are not natively supported by the CPU.

yes you are correct and once into bios you can set the oc speed for it. I use 2133mhz memory in my board and its 2133oc 1866oc 1600normal.
it boots to bios then i set it to 2133 thats all you gotta do.

You're welcome. I added something to my post:
