Just two weeks after Sapphire introduced the Radeon HD 7950 Mac Edition graphics card for the Mac Pro, EVGA today announced the launch of its GeForce GTX 680 Mac Edition. Based on the popular year-old card for PCs, the new GeForce GTX 680 Mac Edition carries 2 GB of GDDR5 memory and adds another high-end graphics option for current Mac Pro users.
Source

Compatible with the 2008 Mac Pro. Price wasn't announced, but NewEgg has it listed at $600.

I remember the outrage when the 7950 thread was posted. redface.gif

I'm assuming the specs are the same as a normal GTX680?
The source seems to list features that a normal GTX680 can do.

I don't think people will hate on it as much as they did on the 7950 as a 'normal' GTX 680 is already overpriced to begin with. rolleyes.gif

What separates this card from a normal 680? Drivers?

Maybe a more OSX friendly Bios, as drivers are out of an AIB's control.

Looks like this is not coming with a DisplayPort to miniDisplayPort adapter. Would be a worthless upgrade to those that have the 24" or 27" Cinema Displays without the adapter. They're not easy to find either. Amazon I think has the only one for a decent price too. I know it took me a while to find one before I got my 670. But if you do have 2 Cinema Displays, then you're pretty much SOL unless you'd like to throw down the extra $80 or so for a DVI to mDP converter.

The pricing isn't too bad either, but still kind of high. Either this or the 7950 is a worthy upgrade for the Mac Pros from their current offerings. Still wish Nvidia would just throw a mDP on the rest of their card rather than having it only on the 590/690.

The white 7950 was very pretty if nothing else. This......

Not so much.

DP-mDP cables can be had for dirt cheap (got one for $8) so thats super duper a non-issue.
