Best cooling for an A10-5800k

Hey guys, just a simple question, I recently bought an AMD A10-5800k to replace my rapidly aging processor, I have been using the stock cooler for about a month now, and every time I play a game like Metro 2033, or run a benchmark of any kind, the temps scare the crap out of me, it goes from a normal 58 or so degrees celcius, to a whopping 72 or 73 degrees celcius under almost minimal load, and I'm not even using the iGPU... So its obvious the stock cooler isn't cutting it (what a supprise) so I need some suggestions on your guys' favorite coolers for your AMD processors, any and all suggestions help, Im thinking of something like a Zalman Copper cooler.... (also, on a side note, if it could have a blue LED fan, that would be awesome biggrin.gif but its not nesscary)

Thanks for the help guys! thumb.gif

Give us some information regarding your system(specifically your case), as Your cooling option in a Mini-ITX Rig is a lot different than in an ATX Tower.

If you are looking for a low profile cooler in a Mini-ITX Rig:

Noctua NH-L9A

or This Zalman

or just serach for FM2 compatiable low profile CPU cooler.

Hey sherlock, yeah, sorry I should have mentioned that, I have a Midsize ATX case, the Bitfenix Ghost to be exact. and I'm not concerned about how loud the cooler is (extra information) Just as long as it doesn't sound like a freight train. I do have some coolers in mind, I just wanted to see what you guys would reccomend, because I don't have very much exp. with AMD processors (previously owned a Core 2 Quad @ 2.4) I need something that would keep this processor pretty cool, because I do plan do do some light to moderate OC'ing. Something that would keep it around 45C-50C idle would be nice. If there is any more info I should give, just tell me. Thanks!

Ghost should be big enough to fit large twin tower air coolers like the Phantek PH-TC14PE or the smaller PH-TC12DX, both should be a sizeable improvement for your A10-5800K over the stock cooler, in fact you should be expecting Idle temps below 40C(14PE keeps my 3770K idling around 32C in a 25C room). As far as cooler socket compatibility goes, any cooler that fits FM1 would fit FM2 so don't be scared if a cooler only list FM1 and not FM2.
