for asus z77 v pro couple questions about 2 bios features, iGPU and ai tweaker turbo mode

Thread Starter
so i seen the iGPU where i could allocate memory for her

i believe this is under ai tweaker

it is under auto right now

what if i set 1024 for it, 1gb is the max i can, i have 32gb

if this is done, is this technically overclocking thus could it void my warranty?

if it stays at auto for igpu allocation, will the system just use the ram or memory it needs from my ram sticks?
i want to be able to provide as much performance and auto doesnt seem assuring of that given i have 32gb but then again

is this considered overclocking? i dont want to void my warranty so yea
i just wonder if i can provide and improve the integrated graphics this way, or is this connected to the cpu instead?

Also,
under ai tweaker mode for cpu's, it shows turbo mode,

this is actually set to enabled by the BIOS default settings,
what would happen if i disabled this?

is this some kind of default overclocking thing the z77 v pro has going on?

sorry im just new to all this type of gizmo, first time actually buying and building some pretty advanced parts
for that matter

Allocating memory to is not overclocking and you won't void your warranty is anyway. However I'd assume (don't know) that in AUTO it would allocate the max. if/when needed. If you're unsure / want to be sure then max. it out manually.

Leave Turbo as-is.

If you just want to 'test' the overclocking functions then it's easy enough with the pre-settings (sorry forgotten what they're called but there's 3 options). However, I wouldn't bother with those. Instead go and look at the CPU section here for the SB/Ivy OC guide.

thanks for reply

yea i was just wondering about the turbo mode, it says it boosts freqency or something when idle

ive had some problems, just 5 times my rig shut off,
on power up it said it was the asus anti surge triggered surge in PSU

all the times it shut off was when i kept to surfing, pretty much on idle

thats why im wondering if i disable that it might stop some sort of voltage fluctuation i dunno

just a thought,
even then i dont quite understand what that turbo does for the cpu too much so yea
i just suspect this could be causing my unexpected shutdowns

None of the BIOS options should / is causing that. The anti-surge happens when there's a surge (obvious I know) so you need to find the cause of that. It's likely something is touching something else that shouldn't?

I mentioned earlier on another thread that the only time I've ever seen that message was when I pulled (purposely) the GPU power cable off the GPU, it shut-down the system and the next reboot showed that message. It's a protection mechanism.

If it was me, I'd turn everything off and pull everything out and rebuild. If you didn't build it, return it and explain the problem and ask them to check/fix it because I can't see it "just going away".

thanks man
i been searching this problem up quite a bit

it is common with asus mobo's

also it seems to be able to have been caused by running multiple monitoring programs

i had hw monitor, core temp, aida 64, the whole sha bang

now i just use aida 64

i even stressed the system on prime 95 for about 20 minutes
all seems well so far

if the surge does happen i will take it to the shop

for now praying it doesnt happen
