looping restarts until I can manage to get into bios

Thread Starter
Hey, I'm very new to overclocking and could use a little insight from some pros. All help is greatly appreciated.

About my pc: Windows 7
Motherboard:
Gigabyte z77mx-d3h
CPU:
Intel i5-2500k
Memory:
16gb G-SKILL Ripjaws
Video Card:
Nvidia GTX660ti
Power Supply:
Antec BP550 Basiq Plus
CPU cooler:
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO.

Ok so I've had this problem since I did this build, and Have tried quite a few things to fix the problem. I've overclocked to 4.2 to start, and started getting rolling restarts immediately after I oc'd. It doesn't happen always, its random. It will continue to restart until i can hit DEL to get into bios, at which point I either modify some voltage settings or CPU freq and it starts up no problem. Whether I change something or not, it always starts up fine after going into bios.
I've changed my GPU from a gtx 550TI to 660TI, Ive installed a new SSD, changing windows from my old hard drive at that time, and installing windows 7 instead of 8. I've reset my heatsync and made sure the cpu was set properly. Ive checked all power cables going to the MOBO and everything else. RAM is installed properly. Everything reads normal, Im not getting hot temps. PRIME and intel burn test run for the lotted time that I choose with no problems whatsoever.
I'm running out of things to try, and am open for suggestions! Dont mind my grammar or punctuation as I am just typing this up quick.

Thanks

well worse case scenario u can Clear Cmos and it should be fine

well this is normal for the pc to loop restart don't worry when it fail to boot (coz of overclocking something not right ) it will continue to restart

I think when you say peep you mean beep?

If OP is able to load into windows originally and it randomly starts boot looping, there wont be any beeps to find out beep codes.

Typically when there is random restarts like that, and you're OC'ing, you'll need to take a look at your OC settings, most likely somewhere you're not applying enough voltage to the CPU. (hence not high load temps)

My suggestion would be to
1) reset CMOS
2) run memtest
3) use your computer as normal (or run prim95) for a while, so that you can rule out that it's not a bad PSU.
4) start over on your OC.

well he said it starts fine after going into bios so i did assume he didnt boot into windows at all ( also the beep works and beep once when u start ur pc if it did boot correctly)

ye ur steps is correct reset cmos will insure the overclock have nothing to with it or it does
