im thinking of running a Linux box on my next build but id like to play swtor but i cant find any recent info on how it plays and what the fps are like any Linux guys out there play swtor and have good results


i know i will be using wine

ps hows steam running for you guys on Linux

Your performance highly depends on your hardware (not necessarily just raw power). Some hardware configurations can run much poorer (or usually have more glitches then other ones). Generally winehq is the place to go to get support regarding configuring wine to run the best.

Generally when it comes to wine, it's try it and see if it works for you. People's experiences vary extensively.


Regarding steam for linux, it runs relatively well. I have had minor issues such as steam changing my mouse cursor, killing floor crashing if you set the in game resolution, and sound crackling issues with alsa in Team fortress 2, but overall it is working pretty well once you figure out how to fix those issues.
