New games made "in house" will be made by Disney Interractive Studios. This move was forseen ever since they bought the rights, since disney likes to keep everything close by.
+1 on them releasing the source code though. I am always glad when the code is released because it lets others see how the game was made, so people can learn from it and figure out how to make something better. I don't know why everyone cannot see the source code for all software. Oh to have the patent/copywrite system that we had back in the early 1800s... When you could legally tear apart any product and figure out how it works.
If you are referring to reverse engineering, that's still legal. It's how projects like OpenMW(Morrowind), SWGEmu(Star Wars Galaxy) and GemRB(Baldur's Gate/Infinity Engine) are created. It's only the actual resources such as models and music that are covered.
Still, having the source code makes things so much easier, and given how popular the Jedi Knight series still remains, this move alone makes the LucasArts closure a net positive. I can't wait to see what comes of this.
