Ok so i have been looking at videos /guides and got a good understanding on how this works.

These are the parts i got

i5 3570k - asrock extreme 4 - corsair h60 cooler

these are the settings im going to put to start messing around.

cpu ratio - all core
all core -40
speed spectrum -disabled
intel speedstep - enabled
intel turbo boost -enabled
additional turbo boost - +0.004v
internall pll - disabled
cpu voltage -offset mode
offset voltage - +0.005v
cpu load line - level 5
enhanced halt state - enabled
c3 state - disabled
c6 state - disabled
package support state diasbled
my memory 9 9 9 24 2n

im starting at 4.0 ghz working my way up since i am a newbie. Anything i should switch or i forget?

disable boost and speedstep, also enable PLL overvoltage

he will need both of those enabled if he plans to use offset, disable only for fixed. Wont need PLL overvoltage unless going for a huge clock. Same board/cpu combo as me.

Edit to add: kenny wrote a great guide for ASRock and Ivycomplete-overclocking-guide-sandy-bridge-ivy-bridge-asrock-edition

i read that turbo boost can cause a voltage spike is that harmful?

Your settings are good, with you offset at +0.005v... your cpu voltage will be at 1.2vcore. You wont need that much for a mild 4.0ghz overclock, id just put it at 4.5ghz and it might be stable at that offset , if not, Up the OffSet some more... Turn cpu load line to level 2. You don't want your voltage to drop a lot when overclocking, can cause issues.. I'd try all that and see what happens. Good luck

So i went ahead and changed the settings

this is first boot after the oc - http://i.imgur.com/TqvX8SN.jpg

This is after a 2 hour blend test prime95 - http://i.imgur.com/fJnjEbp.png

Going to move it to multiplier to 42 next.

also voltage was going from 1.216 to 1.224

Looks pretty good. 2 hours is a bit long to test while you are still going to increase your multiplier. using p95 just get through 30 mins of small fft and you hit the hottest part of the test. you appear to have plenty of headroom with voltage AND temperature. Save the hour+ tests for your final clock.

On an Ivy Bridge I wouldn't do anything besides blend and custom blend. Small FFT cannot be used to determine if an ivy bridge is stable.

I prefer/recommend OCCT over prime95 but that's just what i use.

thats not bad at all but if you want to stick 4.0GHz you can come off that voltage by quite a bit (fixed only though, thats going to be your minimum for offset)

I am able to get 4.0GHz at 1.15v and thats got me running pretty cool on a pretty weak sauce cooler.

I say with your temps, keep it at offset and shoot for at least 4.4
