Hi All,

After a recent review pointed out something that I have felt was happening I am at a crossroad.

Here the mentioned review: CLICK

I'm an avid BF3 player and have notice that ever since I went CF with my 7950 the game-play has not been as fluid... but I was still getting good frames... I though MEH.. it must me me imagining things.

Within the last few months AMD has been supplying a steady stream of drivers which gradually improve single card performance... and "state" that CF is in the pipeline... problem with that is the cards

have been on the market for over a year... Why just now?

Nvidia on the other hand have been working on the "Smoothing" factor since the get go, and it shows in the review.

Since I am wanting to get a custom waterloop setup, I'm now parted.. do I WC the 7950 and wait out AMD to resolve the driver issue (which lots of people on this forum have been doing since 7900

series launch)? or do I sell the cards, get 680s, watercool those suckers and have a decent driver right from the get go?

A little help and guidance is appreciated!

My opinion is keep the 7950's let the new gen come out and then decide what to do the performance difference is not that great between 7950 or 680.
Difference isn't great between 7950 and 680 especially if you overclock the 7950.
Here's an idea, try playing with a single card and check if your frames are any smoother. Or play on someone's system who has nVidia ( preferably SLI ) in his system if possible. You may as well be thinking that your frames aren't any smooth because you've found out about the problem and thus your brain is probably looking for it.
Maybe check your frametimes using Afterburner?
The problem just started being fixed due to the fact that the problem was pointed out in the reports just recently.

Yeah that's just it raw performance (Bang for buck) the 7950s are great, but you do get the occasional stutter (no just on BF3 but on other games as well)

If it would be possible: maybe a 680 SLI user can chime in with any problems he/she has had, or anything "studdering" wise. IF or if not. Id like to get a good comparison going.

Might be right there.. the mind can sometimes really mess with you, but, like I said in the OP, I thought it so (before even reading the review).

Either way.. it would be cheaper just to keep the 7950s lol.

Dude,

7950s are much better bang for buck, I would wait for AMD's "CF solution" to come out and then compare what the 7 series from Nvidia has to offer. But if money is no object then I'd still say wait for the next Gen. I can remember my decision on whether to go AMD or Nvidia with my current build and I remember saying, apart from the price difference, the memory limitation of 2GB was a big factor in not getting an nvidia right now. Although one could have gotten the 4GB edition that would have reinfoced the price complaint. And you can see that the titan is even going for more mem (6GB) so that should indicate the direction nvidia will go next time round.

Look forward to see what you go for and what improvements you ll get:thumb:

Agreed. 3 GB has made a whole lot of difference with Crysis 3.

Windows is up to date as can be... not sure if SP1 is installed though.. I'll need to check tonight when I get home.

I am using the latest beta drivers with a clean install.

yeah thought so as well, 120hz check. thing is I can run 1150 with the gpus whilst gaming some BF3 or Bioshock, even 1200 when benching the New 3dMark but when I play Far Cry 3 it just crashes... I need to downclock both cards to 1050 for it to run without problems. Another thing... what is the max voltage i can put through the GPUs? I have afterburner set to 1200 and it shows me 1250mv.
