I usually start at 1000MHz first at stock voltage then 1100 at stock again if not raise voltage. Thereforth and so on.
My first 7850 would crack 1450MHz mem but not the second one ... i RMA'd it at least it gave me a card with a full 10C lower temps tongue.gif

for testing use heaven 4.0, 3d mark 2013, valley 1.0. once you arrive at stabe max clocks test in games. if you are not stable in games reduce clocks a bit to find 24/7 game stable clocks.

Thanks for the help guys. I currently have it set to 1200/1600/1200 on Trixx (core/mem/volts). Heaven 4.0 for benching.
It seems stable, until I got very minor and rare artifacting in BIoshock. Would you recommend upping voltage, or lowering a clock?

My system is:
Asus M4A79XTD EVO
Athlon II 630 (my 965BE @ 4.0 died last night, so I have to RMA it) - will this low end CPU bottleneck me much in Heaven or BF3?
7950
4x2gb 1600 cas8 (ocz black edition)
Samsung 840 250gb SSD
X-Fi Titanium HD

yeah your CPU will bottleneck. get the replacement phenom ii x4 and run it at 3.8 - 4.0 ghz to reduce bottlenecks. if your core and vrm temps are below 75c and 90c respectively go for upping voltage. maybe 1.225v and 1200 mhz will be enough to run all games stable. try and setup a custom fan profile to keep temps in safe range.

alternatively you could drop down to 1150 -1175 mhz at current volts and achieve stability. good luck. thumb.gif

Artifacts at stock after 3 hours of gaming frown.gif Adjusted the voltage and retested. I've had the card four days and have ran it pretty hard. Been though 12+ hours testing trying to fix. Sadly time to RMA.

Perfect! I lowered to 1175 and it is artifact free (Finally) in Heaven 4.0 smile.gif. THank you! Adding voltage for 1200mhz wasn't working even at 1.225
With fan running at a deafening 100% (I can't even hear my TV lol) it stays at 68C. Anything less than 100% and it will hit 71-72. Will this temp be OK? vrm doesn't ever pass 77C. Where is the vrm located? It might be because I have a fan directly in the middle of the gpu?

yeah core temps are ok upto 75c. so try and lower fan speed to 80%. also changing the TIM to a very high quaity one like Coollaboratory Liquid ultra could reduce core temps by upto 10c. but be very careful as its electrically conductive.

http://www.frozencpu.com/products/10740/thr-77/Coollaboratory_Liquid_Ultra_100_Metal_Thermal_Interface_Material.html

if you want an alternative quality TIM prolimatech pk-1 is very good.

http://www.frozencpu.com/products/9119/thr-59/Prolimatech_PK-1_Nano_Aluminum_Thermal_Compound_-_5_Gram.html

if you are not confident of removing the cooler and reapplying TIM just work with 1150 mhz and fan speed at 80%. see if you can improve case airflow with extra case fans.

Mine died today. I think something seriously wrong with this series.

Ye, this card does get really hot. Currently my settings are

Core:1200
Memory: 1500
Voltage: 1213
Fan Speed: 50% On Desktop, going in game i have to turn it up to 80%.

I do have liquid ultra thermal compound, will try to replace the current tim.

Thinking of selling my 6990s for two of these. I'll actually come out about $50 richer. Thoughts?
