SAPPHIRE 100352-4L and 21196-00-20GHD 7950 the final holy Grail of HD7950s? - Page 24

I don't know, I like these cards a lot, and still would even if one of mine failed (I expect to replace some).

It's not easy finding sub-300 dollar 7950s that don't have voltage locks.

had some more artifacts since my last post, dropped to 1150/1800, 1.125v, 20% power increase. at 50% fan speed i never go over 70 degrees C. i'm running skyrim with bethesda hd textures, 2k textures mod, hd flora mod, ultra quality shadows, ugridstoload=7, hitting upwards of 2800mb vram usage in whiterun companion hall and sit at 60fps 90% of the time unless i'm sprinting through a hugely wide open area in the wilderness. 68fps average in bioshock infinite benchmark. if i use the normal post processing filter that nearly doubles. sold the 2 game keys i received for 40 bucks total, 20 dollar rebate in the mail. sold my previous 2 5850's on craigslist for 120 bucks each, so overall i came out even. very happy with my purchase!

Can you run heaven 4.0 and report back with your scores and max temps? I have to run my fan very high (80%+) to keep it below 70-71C. I have a ton of case fans (including ones that feed the gpu) and my house AC on, and I can't seem to drop the temp that much even with every fan at 100%

what Quality and settings are you using to run Heaven 4.0 at high or ultra ?
both @ GPU 1051 mem 1250 VDC 1168
High @ fan spd 58% temp 43c

Ultra @ fan spd 58% temp 43-44c

I ran the test on your ultra settings and on your clocks, and I got

FPS 47
Score 1184
Min 17.7
Max 80.2
Temp: 64C

Um. is my card bad?

If you havent yet , set your manual fan control to fixed @58% in settings only thing i have checked is sync cards in multi (i only have one card)
in overclocking use my settings and clock spds and re run .

if that dont work slide bios switch to other position and try again with same settings and re run .

could be that fans for some reason isnt free wheelin enough to cool the card and its gettin hot .

make sure cards seated in slot properly , if the card was bad it probly just wouldnt work . thats just my opinion tho . let us know how it works .

Edit would also help to know what kinda sys you have PSU , CPU
I have mine in my old sys and my power supply is too small to have this stuff overclocked too long it gets hot and will shut down on my Cooler Master 500 watt psu, i got this card for a new build with a CM 1000 watt psu but threw it in here to play with because i'm inpatiant like that lol .

I did everything you said and the results are 99% identical, except my temps didn't pass 59C instead of 64.

as much as i want to clock more than 1140 mhz on the core, i get a few artifacts on higher clocks as time goes on, so i just gotta accept it as my max. i had v2.5 of heaven before, and in that version and in the games i've been playing i wasn't having any throttling issues as long as i used 20% power limit. however, once i tried v4.0 of heaven i was getting downclocking in heavy tessellation scenes such as the dragon. to fix this i used the registry change in this thread http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?p=1039789109 in order to increase the power limit beyond 20%. so with 25% power limit i no longer had any throttling, even dropped the vcore to 1.112 and all was well. my memory is capable of over 1850 speeds but the increase was only like .5-1 frame so i just stuck with 1755mhz, as this gets me to a proper 0.65 core/mem ratio. another note is that the benchmark claims my x4 965 is at 3400mhz, but it's actually at 3900, confirmed by cpu-z.

edit: forgot to mention max temp was 70 degrees C, at that temperature my fan speed is about 50%.
edit2: here's a screenshot at 1680x1050 with no AA.
