Sabertooth z77 matching cooler?

Hello together,

I've built a new computer last week, and shockingly I was not able to install my EKL Alpenföhn Himalaya cause of the side-Pipes.

However... I installed the included BoxedCooler - at the moment It's working fine so far but I have already about 45 - 58°C (22°C room temp) just playin WoW fullRes.

For the moment I had no time to do a long Prime test, but im sure that the boxedCooler is not enough.

I'm pretty sure that there are some friendly guys around here having the same board and cpu who can give me some recommendation for a new cooler.

For the moment i've selected the Zalman CNPS9900 MAX or the Corsair H100i for myself.

(sorry for my english - I give my best wink.gif )

Hmm, normally I'd go out and suggest a NH-D14 or similar, maybe a Phanteks would fit the bill better and get one in black?
I really don't know, honestly you need to find something that you think looks good yourself. Most of the people here just get what goes well (I do personally) - apart from waterblocks tongue.gif

You should just have a look on newegg would be my best guess, anything black looks like it'd look good to me personally also.

Hello Matt-Matt,

first of all, thanks for your reply!

actually it doesn't matter if it looks good.... my worry is the compatibility with the restricted space on this mainboard cause of the cover....

I have the corsair h100 with my sabertooth which looks and works really well at keeping temps down, espacally when on middle setting. The h100i would only be better and I know you'll love it!

Oh right, where did I get that you were worried about looks?
You have two options

  • Take the plate off and use the old HS/F
  • Find one that will fit,

Supposedly the NH-D14 as I have suggested will fit, naturally tall RAM is still a limitation.
Just taken from a quick google search, that is if you want air.
Honestly though you have a Sabertooth so you care about looks (one can assume) and I honestly do think that a H100/H100i/H110i would be better for this case, it does indeed look a lot better, you'll have no problems with tall memory and no weight on the motherboard (well not nearly as much). If you can afford it, go for it! H60,H80,H100, I just think that with the sabertooths they look a lot nicer. With a regular board I prefer air though. smile.gif

Or the H110i if you can fit it in your case, the H110i is a tad better because it has a 280mm radiator as opposed to a 240mm radiator (just more cooling space, therefore better temps/less noise)

Yep the NH-D14 fits just fine. Even with a third fan it'll still fit nicely over the shroud and everything. thumb.gif

Yep, there ya go. I do like the Silver-Arrow series myself also but a NH-D14 is known to fit and performs almost as good. (Silver Arrow SB-E)
Still, look around. Dual towers are really nice coolers, I've had a HDT (Hyper 212+), I then got a Silver Arrow SB-E and i'm now onto a custom loop as per the rig. I would have gone straight to water-cooling if I could have from the Hyper but it was a bit too much at the time. But at the same time I'm happy that I tried a dual-tower smile.gif
