Is the V7900 good for gaming.. or just graphics design etc?

Thread Starter
I have the chance to buy a firepro 7900 for $500

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814195107

I only game and dont do any design or anything like that. Would it be worth it to buy this for gaming?

No, Get the HD7970 for about 450 bucks. V7900 is basically a HD69XX series card, based on the Cayman core and is outdated.

Nope. It probably plays games ok, but not nearly was well as a similarly priced HD 7970.

Is this a trick question?

Do you really want a reference blower cooled AMD card from last gen for the same price as an aftermarket cooled current gen top end card like the HD7970?

I could see if you were using professional apps, but for gaming your fan will be at 80-100% almost all the time.
