mobo: asrock z77e-itx
gpu: EVGA gtx 660 SC

HHD/SSD: 1tb barracude 7200rpm, OCZ vertex 3 120gb, ocz Agility 3 60gb

Are there better options for what I chose? I want the smallest volume but dont want the psu on top of the mobo.

Depends on your budget and how long you can wait. There's a case being developed that meets your requirements, but it will be around $200 and is still under development. Web search for "ncase m1."

saw the ncase m1 case too. Note sure what to think of the internal layout.. outside looks nice
200$ for a case is pushing it quite a bit.. wanting something more like $100

That mini cube seems very simple and probably what I'm looking for.. wonder what could be done with it

If linus can stuff p8z77, titan, 2 hdd, 2 ssd, and a full size psu... I think you could built just about anything. I've seen a bunch of them with H80s in push/pull in front of the psu. Then you have a rear exhaust (120mm iirc). My home server is going in a mini cube. Oh and it's like $78.

I think the MiniCube has only 80mm rear fan. What I worry about with the MiniCube is that the drives don't get any airflow and are directly behind the motherboard plate. It seems like a neat and space saving solution instead of having drive bays, but I would be worried about HDD temps in that case.

Holy smokes!!! Well, I guess you could drop cubitek a line and see what they say. If I find anything I'll post it here.
