Just pre-ordered this today Scan UK - Asus Commando i965, S775 £123($246)pre tax they reckon will be in stock middle of next week which ties in with what i read about the launch happening with CES '07.

Testing Thread here with some nice pics Xtremesystems - Commando Results by Tony and Andre apologies if you've already had them

will be running it with a 6600 & these which arrived today.CellShock DDR2 1000 (PC8000) 4-4-4-12 2.2v

There are 2 things that I will watch with the build:-
1) whether board will boot with my memory, Have seen many threads recenly about default bios vdimm of 1.8~1.9v not being sufficient to boot. So i need to watch out 4 that, if necessary may need to get a cheao ddr2 module to get me into bios & change mem voltage.

2) i have a lian-li v2000B+ great case but is ATX inverted now virtually every mobo supplier other than asus hacve said that their latest boards will run inverted i have checked with abit, EVGA both ok. I think i'll just have to test this mobo b4 i finalise the build. I have after market coolers that i can use if need be. Evercool VC-RE & Swiftech MCX159 . As a matter of routine now i always re paste the chipset etc., b4 installing a new board now.

Subject to these 2 things i'm pretty sure all is great.

Luck

Thread Starter
ABIT have great motherboards but they've fallen a little behind. And ASUS keeps being the very best boards for Intel, now fallowed by GIGABYTE.

But I sure will like to see the COMMANDO in action. Keep us posted on that when it arrives.

Love the PCI and PCI-E layout, are there any otherboards (cheaper, preferably) that offer that?

The Abit AB9 QuadGT is rumored to have NB latencies control. If so, it will be the #1 enthusiast motherboard in no time. Also, the Abit AB9 QuadGT has digital PWNS... Something ASUS hasn't used yet.

Have beteen looking at what mobo to buy 4 weeks in a way would have preferred abi, i think they have better support. This was my most recent shortlist 1 of 6 can't really see the quad being available till the end of the month then a m8 confirmed when the commando was shipping, so figured made sence to get 1 while i can, rather than sitting around till end of month at least.

Any1 know any decent bios guides for us refugees from amd ??

Digital PWM gives better control, with more stable settings, so better clockability. The commando has exactly the same

Haha...Digital PWNS!

You mean PWM, Pulse Width Modulation.

Digital means that there really isn't much loss in precision, considering it works off a digital signal. Or at least that's how I think it works.
