Would you buy a 8970 for $499 or a Titan LE for $700 if they performed within 5% of each other?

Titan LE, because of non-horrid drivers, future SLI possibly, good frametimes and no runt frame issues, plus TXAA and PhysX for the games I have that use them (they ROCK in them). Adaptive vsync is nice too.

Those were the worst arguments all for features that don't matter at all TXAA is a joke for weak cards and blurs your entire image it is junk.
SLI or Xfire doesn't matter really.
And I'm a Titan purchaser I would got with the 8970 for their easy multi monitor setups with less DVI crap and more DP's (DVI should be dead for the high end I think)

You're kidding, right? SLI/X-fire i s a HUGE difference, look at recent articles. Plus the X-Fire profiles tend to lag by several months, as opposed to several days, for hot new titles. TXAA was awesome when I played TSW with it, the newer drivers really improved it since the initial introduction and it looks fantastic (eliminates ALL jaggies, gives a slight blur, looks SPECTACULAR in motion even on shader aliasing). My dell 3007wfp-hc only takes dual link dvi, so no, I don't want displayport only. And, finally, Surround vs. Eyefinity, nVidia's surround works just as easily.

In AMD's defense you can get timely X-Fire profiles for new games, you just have to get their latest Beta drivers these days. For Nvidia you can get WHQL driver with new game support.(Since last October, AMD have 2 WHQL drivers: 12.10 & 13.1, Nvidia have 5: 306.97(Oct),310.70(Dec),310.90(Jan),314.07(Feb), 314.22(Mar))

I can see the LE being able to overclock to the point that it's on par with a regular and even overclocked Titan...I can also see a lot of pissed off people who spent $1k on a card that performs the same as one for $300 less (hoping the LE variant is about $699 usd) smile.gif

Is this going to be another pricey gpu that will be weaker than the 700 series when that comes out in 2014? rolleyes.gif

The ball is on ATI's court now, Ati gets to Determine how powerful and good our gpu's will be price/performance. I can't wait until 2014, it's going to be a fist fight between Nvidia/Ati. Someone is going to come out on top. biggrin.gif

Last I used an AMD card was at the 7970 launch, where I ran into numerous annoyances from minor to major (ULPS downclocking was a biggie)... I'd be glad to see AMD improve, but after having tried the 7970, 5870, 4850, and 4870 cards, I've always been disappointed with the overall driver support. I *WANT* to get them because they're cheaper, but the full package just doesn't seem to be there, both anecdotally and from reviews + articles.

I'd LOVE it if this were to be reality, but I won't hold my breath. For now I'm waiting to see what TITAN LE is like before I decide on whether to go for a Titan.

+1

And drivers argument is a joke. Had AMD before, never had issues with drivers. Some ppl are just biased.

I'm about to pull the trigger on a Titan any time. I don't think i want a card with less power than Titan and i know the card is overpriced but it will going to performance better even with the 700 series. but at the same time i like to sell my both 670's with WB and stock cooler.

First card can OC 1356 + 500 M clock - Old PCB version with all caps
Second card can OC 1343 +500 M clock - New PCB version less caps
