Looking to get into PC Gaming

Thread Starter
Hi everyone Im new around here and need some advice.

I am looking to get into PC gaming but have no idea where to start. My budget is anywhere below 750 British Pounds. I am looking for really good value for money and it is only the actual PC tower that i need. It may be a year or more until I get the full amount of money so this is more just to find something that i can set my sights on and save up for.

I thought the PC's on this website were quite good value for money but really i have no idea, just some advice and suggestions is all i require. Also the PC must be prebuilt as me and technical stuff like building my own don't always go to well, haha.

Here is the website:
http://www.chillblast.com

Thanks in advance smile.gif

a lot of money can be saved if you build it yourself
parts are better for the same amount of money and you can tailor the specs to your needs.
i recommend getting a friend who is good with computers to help you do some research and build it with you
everything is just plug and play and you'll learn the insides of a computers so you can upgrade later on

In that case could you give me a couple of good components that come at a cheap price but give good performance e.g. graphics cards, processors?
I would recommend going for the below. i don't know the prices in UK. but these will keep you running.

CPU: 3570 or 3570K if you intend to over clock
M.B: Gigabyte D3H or Asrock Extreme 4
Ram: Any 8GB set of 1600Mhz with CAS9
GPU: MSI 7850
PSU: you will need 500W power supply. i recommend the seasonic and the roswill capstone whichever is cheaper.
HDD: 1TB will get you going for a while (either get WD BLUE or Seagate Barracuda)
Cooling. if you get the non CPU. no need for a custom cooler. if you intend to over clock i would recommend the Cooler master Hyper 212 EVO or the thermalright true spirit for entry level.
Case: Get any 30-40 quid case.

The sites you should check are.. overclockers.co.uk , scan.co.uk and amazon.co.uk unless you know a better place then it's fine.

That system will run all games on high @ 1080p. if you find this expensive then your best way to go after that is AMD processors as they are cheaper. for entry level i would recommend the FX6100 AM3 proc.

Also check the marketplace here. lot's of respectful OCN members sell their stuff for good prices.

Have fun

Thanks for all the recommended system specs i will certainly look into them.

Just another quick question, will the system specs that were recommended run games like DayZ and other demanding games easily. My biggest worry is building something that only gets low fps on games.
Thanks
well as i said before. if you game only on 1080p.. this build will get you on high on most games. if you replace the 7850 with a nice 7870XT and OC that to 7950 level. you will run many games on ultra.

You can check the benchmarks for the 7850/7870/750 as they range from 190 to 300 USD and find the sweet spot for your budget.

What about a GeForce GTX660 is that another option or is one a lot better than the other.

In terms of out-of-the-box performance, the new GTX 650 Ti BOOST is roughly equal to the Radeon 7850, the GTX 660 is roughly equal to the standard Radeon 7870, and the GTX 660 Ti is a little behind the Radeon 7950.

As for which is better (GeForce vs. Radeon), it's a hotly debated issue with both sides having strengths and weaknesses. My personal opinion is that if you want a set-and-forget rig with a single 1920x1080 screen, the GTX 660 is probably your most cost-effective choice.

I know that its MSRP has dropped in the UK just as it has in the USA, so it's a pretty good deal now.
