Stop spreading misinformation, that's for USED games and the same system is on the PS3... not all publishers use it, most that do require you to buy an online pass for used games.

This should be in rumors & unconfirmed. Just because a couple more people are saying it's true, does not make it so. Only when Microsoft says it themselves, will it be official. For all you guys know, they are just brewing up a storm so they can seem like heroes when the finally tell us they aren't going to require a constant connection.

@ the guy above me the guy above the guy above me, there is a very big line between having an opinion, and catering to as wide of an audience as possible. There are still large numbers of people that aren't able to have constant connections. That would be more lost sales for Microsoft, on top of people that decide it wouldn't be worth it if you always have to be online. I still strongly believe they will not do actually do this. Wait for an official announcement before trying to say things are fact/confirmed. (That goes for everybody.)

Microsoft should really be stupid, it won't pick up in India, where there are frequent disconnections every 2 hours.

Always online is just a horrible, terrible idea. My last two consoles were Xbox and Xbox 360 (although I sold the 360 to Gamestop last year for Steam credit). IF this turns out to be correct, the decision on which next gen console to buy will be super easy.

I just find it funny that so many people on a website, whose favorite PC games require a GPU that costs what half a year of internet service or more would cost just to run at 30fps, have a problem with this. I also find it funny how I wrote that horrible attempt at a sentence up there. I really need to take some grammar classes lol.

Regardless I thought the 360 was head and shoulders above the PS3, wasn't even close imo. However I was very impressed with the PS4 announcement and it actually got me excited for it. I still want to see what the next Xbox has to offer, the always on internet requirement will not affect my choice in the least bit.

I feel like preventing piracy is 1/2 of the excuse, the other is to force some sort of xbox version of facebook down our throats like what nintendo did with the Wii U. Except it will require xbox live gold, and be plastered with ads of course.

Last time I used my now sold xbox 360 it was awful. I couldn't do anything through the apps because it all required xbox live gold. Things I can do on my blu-ray player for free. Then they have the tenacity to raise the price. I don't get it. This is the sort of thing that I see monopolies doing.

Sony has a real shot here to do something good this gen. Going x84 is a huge, huge thing. I just hope they don't make the same mistakes that microsoft did and is doing so it becomes the norm. Though I have a pretty good feeling that the devs are going to "convince" sony to make an always online kit. By convince, I mean telling sony they won't develop for their console if they don't.

I don't get the reasoning with they guy on Twitter in those pictures posted earlier. He compares it to not getting a vacuum cleaner because electricity goes out. For one, electricity goes out far less than internet in most places. Also, electricity is required to run a vacuum, an internet connection isn't required to play a whole host of games. If the vacuum didn't require electricity all the time to do it's core function, then it would have made sense. What an ignorant comparison. The mobile phone one is even worse, I won't even elaborate on that one.

I shouldn't care if they make them online only, as I haven't had a console since the N64 and don't plan on buying another one again ever. I just feel it leads down a slippery slope for other devices/business models. Having it on a console pretty much kills one of the only good things I liked about them. Taking them with me camping/rv'ing, etc. If I was planning on buying one before(I wasn't), Portability gone=no buy for sure for me.
