Pentium D Overheating

Thread Starter
I Have A Pentium D 3.4 Ghz CPU

I Just Realized its been Getting Pritty Hot When Play Games

Its Been Getting about 160F or 71C

My Intel Desktop Utilities Have Been saying this is too hot

i currently have and Golden Orb II made by thermal take

its goes at 1600 rpm i think that may be a problem

does anyone recomend any other goods fans that would keep my processor the coolest

id like to liquid cool it eventually

can anyone give me any temps they get for liquid cooling?

thanks

dan

Hello

water cooling can get very good temperatures but for a much smaller cash outlay you could get a high performance heatsink and fan for your CPU.

Have you tried reseating your heatsink a few times to see if that is the cause?

What thermal compound you using?

well the thing is the golden orb sits funny on the processor
the screws dont reacher the bracets that welll on the mobo
so i have t kinda push the screw with springs on them down so the fans a tight fit

im using this silver compound tiger direct sent me wit my processor

its thermal conductivity is 7.5 W/m-k What ever that means lol

Also my 450 watt power supply is really close to my fan like a pennys width away

and the power suplly gets pritty hot

could this be transfering heat to my fan and heating the processor more???
