Some questions about my overclock

Hey all I'm new so if this is in the wrong place let me apologize in advance. I recently overclocked my i7 3770k manualy (I was not impressed with Intel's easy way to overclock) in CPU-Z before I start stress testing with prime95 it say I'm running a multiplier of 45 and its 4.5 ghz. After I start prime95 it will only go up to about 4.2 ghz, is this right does it not use all of the 4.5 ghz? Also another question in the bios i have the voltage set to 1.190 which i think is good, I've heard you don't want to go over 1.3 for a 24/7 OC. However in cpu-z it shows my voltage only getting to 1.232 when I'm running prime95. I'm not sure if that's right because in core temp it says VID is 1.33 so which one is the right voltage? Thanks any suggestions or answers are appreciated.

So are you saying that you would have been more impressed if it were difficult?

Which motherboard do you have?

What are all of your settings?

CPU-Z is showing the correct voltage. The VID is not the current core voltage. It's just the voltage that's "probably" needed to obtain stability at that multiplier, and each multiplier has its own VID.

Also, it looks to me like your Load-Line Calibration setting is too high because the voltage is going up under full load. So again, I'd like to know which motherboard you have and what all of your settings are.

For posting screenshots, it's better to insert them using the Insert Image button on the toolbar here on OCN. Also, you can take screenshots of just the active window using Alt+Print Screen.

No sorry I stated that wrong it's just when I do it manually my temps are so much cooler.

Motherboard - Intel BOXDZ77RE-75K

My stable overclock is 4.4ghz with a voltage of 1.170 in bios. In the bios I don't have an option to change my multiplier, but I can change what each of the 4 cores is set to. I have them all set to 44 for the stable overclock. I want to get 4.5ghz because I think my temps are fine when I was at 1.190 I was only hitting 82 for a second.

Idle at 4.4ghz

Running Prime95 4.4 ghz

Thanks again.
