Airflow of 200mm Megaflow it incorrect at 110 cfm

Thread Starter
I bought these fans a while ago and they do not seem to be pushing very much air at all.

They say they push 110 cfm with 700rpm however it feels like nothing and can barely lift a kleenex off of its surface. After google searching I cannot find a review of this fan, is it just my fan or is the 110cfm a lie and these fans suck.

Thanks

Almost all brands lie about their fan specs i learned this the hard way so dont put too much trust in what they claim

Last all 200mm fans are crap there is not really any good ones other then the NZXT 200mm fans but they only fit in NZXT cases

No they only fit in NZXT cases as they are not 200 mm fans they are 192mm fans or something like that they dont use the same standard as all the other 200 mm fans so you cant mount them in normal 200mm holes

You could drill your own holes for the NZXT fans

NZXT FZ-200 series adopted the usual 154mm spacing and is roughly a 200mm fan as opposed to their FS series which was 192mm with some odd spacing when mounted. I ordered one with orange LEDs for a friend's HAF 912 build and the holes lined up properly as well as when I attempted it on the side panel of my 500r. Despite the shout out to NZXT and whatnot, I do agree that all 200mm fans are crap, especially when trying to pull when there's a grate/filter or if they're in the intake position. If they're in free air or in an exhaust position, they're decent but I'd rather choose another option than a 200mm fan. 200mm fan specs are just bloated nonsense. I attempted to talk my friend out of getting the 200mm but he wanted it. His money, not mine ...

If there where a way to mount 3x 120mm or x3 140mm fans in the top of the HAF X without modding the case i would had gone that way and not with 2x200mm fans

Agreed, I am contemplating downgrading to the HAF XM as you can replace all of the megaflows on that with smaller versions that will push more air. 2x front 120's, 2x 140 sides, same goes for the top.

CM overrates their fans. However, keep in mind that most of these 200mm fans have ****stacular air pressure, so they won't "feel" as if they push a lot of air. They do move air, it's just that it spreads out in a much larger area. These kinds of fans are great as side intake fans or where there is little to no restriction.
Having said all that, I get the same overall case temps with two Megaflows (front intake, top exhaust) compared to four 120mm medium speed Yate Loons (two front intakes, two top exhausts). The Megaflows are much quieter however, and they "feel" as if they move a lot less air.

Any clue how to know the correct numbers? Sites like hardware canucks should really review fans imo.

Who knows really. I guess someone with the proper tools can test one. I always take cfm ratings with a grain of salt though, +/- 10cfm. They probably move something close to what CM states, but as I said, these fans are not that great at "pushing" air.
