This layer 8 advantage is a milestone achievement, a landmark technology breakthrough and strategic tool in the hands of IT Security professionals to further push organisational security beyond the traditional boundaries

So I'm not schooled in networks. Anyone here that can tell me if this is something new, or just another way to skin a cat?

The article doesn't go into the technical details, but the description sounds a lot like a number of all-in-one application firewall products like the ones from Palo Alto Networks... Their usage of "layer 8" doesn't really make a whole lot of sense either, especially given that layer 8 is a fuzzy, semi-humorous concept to begin with.

That company emailed me to become a major shareholder so that they can release their software. The 1000 dollars I sent them will turn into a MILLION.
How could this go wrong?

You only sent them 1000? I gave them 10000, they said not only would I have a seat on the board but they'd also find my lost grandfather.

The added security is great with the caveat that typically, no...every time it breaks, the users will be presented with a D.O.S. generated from within...PEBKAC. Ask me how I know. Almost 20 years in IT with the "best" Firewalls, Routers, Lans, Vlans, PBR's, Proxies. Every high tech machine mgmt could order from a magazine.

You can't fix stupid mixed together with at least 4 outsource vendors all in their own "Tower". My last War Room (near 18 hour days troubleshooting) was 2 weeks, as we just went through Qtr Close and something broke in the Finance Firewall Zone...sigh

Thank you Mgmt.

On topic I'd really rather have some separation of certain components as to making troubleshooting a tad easier.

If you're dumb enough to fall for it, you deserve what you get.

Why would I ask you how you know when I know how you know?
