What he heck am I doing wrong setting up my raid 0 stripe/installing win 7? Intel Newbie, but...??

I have setup and run several raid 0 stripes in the past, but always on AMD mobo's which have all-sata 3 ports on them.(The 990fx platform anyway) I have built an Intel based-Fatality Z77-I5 3570K- Dominator 1866 4 x 2gb - HIS 7850 2gb - (2) W.D. Green 500gb sata 3 64mb cache drives- intel 30gb ssd for acceleration- corsair GS600 p.supply - Hauppage T.V. tuner (pci-e that I unhooked when I started having issued installing windows 7). It's h2o cooled with a custom loop of quality parts. I didn't think that Win 7 Ultimate 64 needed any driver for raid 0 with the Z77 chipset so I just set up my stripe with no trouble and began my installation. It got all the way to "completing installation" and then errored saying that it cant configure windows installation to run with my hardware?? I tried it 6 ways from sunday, dvd plugged into the asmedia port set to ahci, dvd plugged into the #5 sata port which is where asrock reccommends it to go, no usb sticks or peripherals plugged into the mobo at all. I then tried to load driver, and no driver would install without an error on the win7 format/setup screen. I don't know what to do next. I even flashed back to an older beta 1.30 bios that says it "improves raid card compatibility" from the 1.60 biuos that I was running. I had installed the same windows on a single hard drive when testing the hardware and cooling loop hardware amnd it ran fine. Please if anyone can help...??? Thanks!! The parts are all brand new, and one hard drive was only used long enough to test everything.

Please try this and let us know if it works:

1. Remove Video Card (Run onboard video for now)
2. Configure SATA as RAID in the Bios
3. Initiate the INTEL Config Tool during boot - Reset all disks to non RAID
4. Exit (DO NOT setup an array)
5. Install WIN 7 on one of the two 500GB drives
6. Install current RST driver from Intel
7. Update all drivers
8. Take a image backup (I would use the one that comes with WIN 7)
9. Reboot and get back to Intel RAID utility
10. Configure your RAID 0 array
11. Restore from backup
12. Reboot
13. Open up RST utility and designate SSD for accelaration
14. Reboot if asked to
15. If everything OK - add the video card
16. Add the PCI-E Card
17. Reimage OS

Please report back

My only question is that how do I get the system to boot after saving the win7 image and setting up the array? Am I able to restore from backup in the raid bios or regular bios? Or does win7 have that option on it's installation dvd? I get that u want me to restore my OS image from 1 drive onto the array, I just don't understand how to get it to restore w/o getting win7 to boot onto the array. Thanks for all trhe info as it looks good, like it should get it done! ( I also wondered If I should use a different windows 7 64 dvd too as my ultimate it a burned one and my home edition is an original but I'm going to try your list as I want to use ultimate.

You will need to create a rescue disk as part of image creation and boot from the rescue disk to recover the image to the newly created RAID 0 array. Hope this helps
