asus m5a99fx pro ram problem

ok so i have 2 sets of ram 2x4gb 2x8 gb
my old mobo befor i gave it a drink lol would run this fine
my new mobo will not ... it boots but wont run 12 gigs

mem testes all sticks all sets run fine alone

tried every combo i can think of it will only give me whats in slot 1 and slot 2

all ram is same timmings same freq same brand just diferent size

im out of ideas lol 8 gigs is plenty got me atm but wouldent mind more

Just because all that is the same doesn't mean the memory is "matched". In fact, I would say it isn't matched, as the sticks are different sizes and will have different ICs (the little black squares) on them.

Check again that each set is in the correct slots (owners manual).
Try setting speeds, timings and voltages manually.
Set low speed, loose timings and high volts. It wouldn't hurt to up the voltage(s) on the memory controller too.

Maybe you can tried to run your memory in ganged mode, meaning running at 1 channel rather than 2 channels.

Or you can try doing 8, 8, 4, 4.
