Thread Starter
So I have At&t as a service provider I started with 12mb and they continued to decrease my bandwidth until it hit 700 kbs sadness I know finally I finished my gaming rig and it's taking 14 hours to download 4gbs and the only router I have is the one AT&T provided I can't gaming with slow networking so could someone provide a Gaming Router that can do wireless and at least get 450mbs.

The router shouldn't affect your internet speed unless there is something wrong with it.

At least 450mbps? Where? LAN? Wireless? Internet?

Are you confusing Bandwidth with download speeds?

Are you getting 700kbs DL speed all the times or only during peak times ie. are you getting over 1Mb download speed after midnight locally?

first of all 450Mbps is a theoretical max that nobody can/will ever achieve even if you had 3x3 antennas running 40MHz wide channels.

the best thing you can do is get a dual band router with gigabit ports on back, preferably that has at least 2x2 antennas (most wireless NICs don't have 3 anyway) My recommendation is and will be until something better for the same price comes out is the Asus RT-N56U. If your wireless is getting stomped, download InSSIDer and view the networks around you so you can change your channel accordingly... personally I run everything in my house on 5GHz and never have any issues.

I test wireless routers for a living, and it smokes anything I have seen from Cisco, Belkin, D-Link, and Netgear. PM me if you have specific questions.

Could it be congestion or the line being bad?
Is it DSL could you be able to provide your line stats as it may seem like a problem with the DSL Line instead of the Router. (Could potentially be the router too).
