I've been looking to upgrade my computer experience recently, but what to do first?

Hello ocn fellow, so I'm looking to upgrade my gaming experience and I don't really know if my list to do is in the good order.
I play Bf3 and WoW at the moment, plan to play bf4 for sure
Heres my current spec:

Amd phenom II x4 955@3.8ghz
Asus m4a79xtd-evo (sata 3gb/s)
2x2gb mushkin black line@1680mhz
evga gtx 460 1gb
samsung 830 128gb
WD black 640gb
corsair 650tx v2
antec 300 case ...
LG flatron e2350v 23'' monitor@60hz (1920x1080)
2sd monitor 19'' viewsonic (1280x1024)

So I have been looking to upgrade my monitor with those 2560x1440 korean one

What should I do first.
My first intuition was to upgrade my monitor first and play with resolution scale, like playing 1x1 pixel at 1920x1200 or something like that.
Then I taught to get the most out of my experience would be to buy a used gtx 670 and I would be settle down for atleast bf4.
I planned to upgrade my Cpu later but I don't think it's that upgrade that I should focus.

So basiclly, with my current spec, is the 700-750$ (that I earned through my student job) worth the upgrade of monitor + gtx 670.
I could also consider 7950, but I am kinda attached to nvidia. And the 2 dvi port+hdmi that a gtx 670 is a big plus, because I could potentially use my 2 other monitor for multitasking.
Thank you

Get the video card first if you're planning on 1440p, your 460 would tank pretty hard at that resolution in games like BF3.
An 8GB kit of DDR3 wouldn't be a bad idea either TBH (RAMs cheap now so may as well).

I'll agree the chip doesn't need to go first, but perhaps try and see if you can squeeze some more out of it if you can.
Maybe just hold out until Haswell comes if you're not averse to an Intel setup.

What he said, thats prolly as good of an answer you can get at the moment. Get a 670 and a 1440P monitor (Korean will be in the budget). Those 2 things alone will increase your gaming experience a LOT.

I'd upgrade the video card and RAM imho.

The GPU is going to bottleneck more, especially as far as gaming goes.

Yeah, for sure ill wait for haswell for the cpu upgrade.
The ram isn't a bad idea, but I'm not sure how to test if 4gb is not enought, I get like 3.4gb out of 4gb on bf3, wow uses 3.9 out of 4gb.
Also, haswell is for sure going to be ddr3?

But for the gpu and monitor upgrade, you think that I would be better to buy the gpu first?
And according to benchmark, gtx 670 is good for 1440p, so I think that would be a good choice since I favor to stay on the green side.

I mean your GTX 460 is the weakest point in your system right now, as far as gaming goes. Well, the RAM could stand to be upgraded too, but that's a cheap fix.

Your Phenom with a better video card will yield better returns in game than a new processor and the same GTX 460.

So basically--yes, I'm agreeing with you. Upgrading the GPU (and monitor if that's what you feel you need) is the way to go. The 7950 is great bang for the buck, but you can't go wrong with a 670 either. I have one and I love it--no problem playing any games on maxed out settings, even with AA cranked up.

I'm playing only on single monitor 1080p though.

The only thing I would suggest is set 50-80 bucks out of that 700 aside and upgrade your RAM too. 8GB of a decent ram with a low cas, and you'll noticed a good difference for a small amount of cash.
I don't think you need more than 8GB, but I would suggest getting more than 4.

Avoid those Korean monitors like the plague. There's a reason they are cheap. Say hello to nasty back light bleeding, among many other things. For monitors, try to scour for some used pro-grade NECs. You can get amazing deals, especially if it is a previous model.

Edit: I'm wrong about single Nvidia cards not supporting more than two monitors. Don't know why I was thinking that...redface.gif

As for a 1440p monitor, if I were you I'd wait until the Monoprice montior is back in stock.
