Questions regarding my OC....

Thread Starter
I tried to get as close to 3ghz, but this is the farthest i'm at and stable (prime95
8hrs)
- Is it possible to reach 3ghz?
- I'm not surre if my cpu frequency + fsb:dram ratio looks okay?
- Any suggestions on my memory timings, thats where i have a hard time figuring out?

Memory: generic samsung pc3200 dual channel ddr 1gb
Temps: 30-32C idle & 39-41C load

Try dropping your HT multiplier a notch. Should help give extra stability. Your RAM is underclocked at the moment so that shouldn't affect your overclock.

the underclocked ram is not really a good thing right? is that what the cpu frequency is??

underclocked ram means isnt a problem it means that there is more frequency availible.

Yes i think that is the cpu freq (not 100% on that).

For 3Ghz Try upping the bus speed from 264 to around 274 and lowering ht to just under 1000mhz.

what's the recommended average ht settings, 800-1000mhz?

Don't go over HTT of 1000mhz if you want to keep it stable

For your RAM, up the divider and then check its speed in CPU-Z when you've done overclocking - you want it as close to, but not above, 200mhz as possible seeing as you have Value RAM.

I see no reason why you couldn't hit 3ghz - just worry about your CPU and its temps

Is there a safe voltage for every chip as well as a safe temperature, or is the temperature all the matters? I have air cooling, but my 3700 will stay below 45C at load even with 1.65v. People are telling me I should keep it below 1.55v. Is voltage this high safe?

up the voltage to 1.55v and drop your HT multi down to around 3x. see if you have a 3 ghz stable chip then. it should be....
