That'll give the card more room to breathe when you plan to add another for SLI. And do not use the last pci-e slot since it only runs at x4 speed on your mobo.

On no, how I can miss this...I forgot that ASUS have a TWO SLOT variant instead of THREE....nice post, +rep.

Well I am planning to sli in the future when single card cant play games on high-mid settings so it maybe 2 years minimum

I chose the asus because of the overclocking capabilities , the high cooling and low noise

what pci slot should I use for the other card ? Is it the one in the bottom ?

Out of curiosity, which card do you want to buy? a 670 or 680? Don't get me wrong, I love ASUS (except for their RMA's)....their product is reliable, quiet, and have a nice aesthetics.

680 Lightning is OOS now and I doubt MSI will re-stock the card considering the 700 series will be release ASAP (maybe).

680 of course

Any reason why you just want to buy the TOP version? If its about cooler, don't worry about it...the TOP or NON TOP will use the exact SAME cooling...the difference is only on the Factory Core Clock...(the TOP version have a slightly faster clock than the NON TOP)...but considering you can overclock it by yourself, I don't see the point from buy the TOP version.

and Unfortunately, ASUS didn't made the dual slot variant for their 680 TOP models.

The TOP edition is just binned higher - it doesn't necessarily mean that it is a faster card, it's just faster out-of-the-box. To the best of my knowledge, the TOP cards are EOL, so it'll likely be difficult to find more of them in the future (though you can SLI a TOP with a non-TOP card).

Well but it comes with 4GB Vram though. biggrin.gif

Anyway, as everyone's trying to tell you, you wouldn't want to sandwich those 3-slot 680s in SLI. The temperatures & airflows would be so bad that it actually limits your OC by then.

In short: either 2-slot or blower type coolers for SLI.thumb.gif

This isn't a guarantee - the silicon lottery works both ways. There is no promise that you'd be able to overclock either card at all. However, given that ASUS TOP cards don't have the most esteemed binning record, it's a safe bet that you'll be able to push a non-top card reasonable high. Probably not as high as the TOP card, but close enough that it won't matter.
