The 7970 is winning in most cases (or in all cases). and lets not talk about the overclocking capability. Those test = stock cards.

I would opt for the 680, as fast or faster stock for stock, overclocks well and of course, comes with Nvidia's superior driver suite with more features.

The 256bit bus is fine for 1440/1600p.

I never said it wasn't , what I mean is don't get a 4GB card when its bottlenecked by the memory bus, you better get the 2GB version.

My vote goes to the 7970 first, then the GTX 670 2 GB. Don't get me wrong, the GTX 670 2 GB is an awsome card. almost as good as the GTX 680 BUT for much cheaper.

Fast on stock? Where did you pull that?

Maybe read this:http://www.hardocp.com/article/2012/11/12/fall_2012_gpu_driver_comparison_roundup/3#.UV9DdjtrXxU

A 7970 is 15 % faster on stock at 1440p/1600p

Indeed. But that's because it's a stronger card, not because of VRAM limitations.

Check the highest playable settings they list at the top of each bench. Their highes playable AA/AF settings match the 2GB cards in almost every instance.

7970 is $100 cheaper for more or same performance. I think this is a no brainer. thumb.gif

The 4GB version of the 670/80 is pretty much pointless IMO.

Only reason i bought a 4 GB Asus GTX 680 CU II was it was the only card in stock i could find and that its a dual slot card

Old Vs New

Overall the old triple slot 2 GB GTX 680 sucks compared to the new dual slot 4 GB GTX 680
