Artifacting problem.

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB)

so my issue is that im having artifacting in some games. i called up my GPU tech support, they took me to a website to download a tool called SIW (system info for windows) they had me pull up my system info for the power. when i looked at the info it showed that my mobo was only getting 8.10v

i figured my powersupply was dieing because it was pretty old. so i got a new power supply. the voltage rating for the new power supply didn't change, it was exactly the same. does the voltage of the motherboard effect the graphics card and artifacting? i dont know exactly what the issue is, this goes way over my head. i was also told that bad GPU ram causes artifacting, but its only in some games that i get the artifacting and its instantly. not over time, or anything. the second the game starts its artifacting. i want to say that maybe its a bad MOBO because the voltage on the MOBO didn't change when i put in the new PSU. and ive seen online pictures of other people running this program with the voltage being around 12v. i would venture to say that the motherboards rails might be faulty in some way, thats why its only reading 8.10v. but i dont know, if someone could maybe shed some light on my issue that would be great thanks.

What games were you seeing artifacting in? Typically artifacting is strictly a gpu problem. Voltagae sensor programs are also horribly inaccurate, you should look into your manual and find where you can manually check voltage with a multimeter as Im fairly certain if your board was only getting 8v then it wouldnt run at all.

If the board isn't getting 12v on the 12v rail, you won't have a computer to talk to us with. It's frankly that simple. I don't remember what the dips are, I know it's like 11.Xv or something like that, below 11.5 gets iffy. The biggest kicker though, if the board works of that power is the droop.

anyways, i doubt that sensor reading is correct. If you changed the power supply and reading's don't change, that's something non-psu related. Test out other parts. I'd go with the GPU/MB, probably the GPU as it's generally the issue with artifacts.
