thinking of replacing stock TIM on my xfx radeon hd 6870

How much of an improvement in temp should I expect if I were to replace the stock TIM with some arctic MX-2 TIM on my XFX radeon hd 6870?

Right now I'm getting about 75 degrees celcius under max load and I want to extend the llife of my gpu.

It depends on how poorly the stock tim was applied. Typically OEMs dont use a bad TIM so the difference could be as small as 2-3c but if its not seated correctly or poorly applied you could see a 6-10c drop. Full load that card should be around 70c depending on overclock.
