Lenovo u410 LCD Panel Upgrade to Higher Res

Hey all -

Got a u410 for an absolute steal today. Suits my needs perfectly except for the crappy LCD panel. I want to upgrade to either 900 or 1080.

That being said, the internet is strangely barren on this front.

http://www.screencountry.com/index.php?section=products&model=IDEAPAD%20U410%2059351638&brand=IBM-Lenovo&series=IDEAPAD

That's the current panel - 12"x7.4" LED with a 40pin. Anyone know of a replacement panel that will work? Browsing on screencountry/laptopscreen is really not set up for looking for specifics by panel, just by laptop model number. I'm not concerned about the 610m/4000 being able to push 1080p, I know it will easily. I just need a panel to fit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, after extensive research, I believe I'm going to try this one out:

https://www.laptopscreen.com/English/model/Alienware/M14X/

I mean, they use the same thumbnail for the picture of this LCD and the original for the u410 - what could go wrong, right?!

Seriously though, apparently 14.1" 1080 screens don't exist. And this has the screw brackets and connection in the same place as the Lenovo. Laptopscreen has $5.76 return shipping insurance, too, so not too much to lose. Here goes nothing..

Did this work? I've been looking for an upgrade for my U410 as well.

I'm sorry for bringing this back up, but have you had any success with this? I'm hoping to replace my screen as well but I haven't found anyone who has done it yet.

Someone posted this replacement screen over at notebookreview: https://www.laptopscreen.com/English/screen-part-number/B140RW02~V.1/

Has anyone had success? Or found screens of a higher res? I've been thinking about buying a replacement for the u410 with touchscreen if it had similiar structure.

The touchscreen probably won't work, they are typically much thicker.

There's the LP140WF1-SPB1 but it's a 30 pin panel, you might, and I mean might, be able to use a converter cable from 40 pin to 30 pin as well.

I hadn't known the digitizers were part of the lcd assembly, sorry. Smartphones, even though they are glued to the glass still can have the LCD enclosure replaced.
