Thats true, but still, they should hire people that knows computers well instead of just hiring anyone that applies that knows how to plug in a USB mouse or something.

well, some people buy a computer every like 3 years... (parents) so now, if you take a look in a dell/gatway PC from 2002 it probably wont have SATA... maybe the high end PCs did.

but the date he said is wrong
well he shouldnt be lying to get a sale like that, sata has been main stream for atleast 5.5 yrs now and is very common even in prebuilt computers
and when your talking to someone that isnt buying a prebuilt computer but is obviously putting his own computer together that sales rep is obviously wrong
but anyways i dont want this to turn into a spray thread

most of the people that work at these places suck with the rare exception that ive found that actually seem to know something and are helpful and in the end its the consumers fault for not researching this stuff before buying or going to the wolves without any ammo on there side

If you go back and listen, the guy was a complete moron and denied that he was going to charge the woman $275.

The Geek Squad guy was obviously a moron, and the rest of them were scammers. Even $5 to plug in an IDE cable is ridiculous, and the only guy that wasn't going to charge above $75 was the guy who let her have it back for free.

That is true nasgul. Besides, the only reason I posted this article was to show people that it happens, I could've told anyone geeksquad sucks without posting this.
lightsource; posting the article is fine but when it comes to TV reports, believe me, they're not 100% accurate nor credible in many ways.

I remember long time ago, some show from CBS made report about supermarkets, guess what? they got caught editing the crap the wrong way and Food Lion sued the show, Food Lion won.........all because the producers wanted what they "thought" the public wanted to see.

Same crap happen about some idiot show that pull a fuse out of the box from a Totoya Camry and the hidden cameras caught a guy saying that this and that was broken and it needed fixing and the cost was going to be $xxx......and they pull the same crap, they go back in with the full blown cameras all over the place and ask the person why, why, why.......When the only problem was the fuse no in place.

So, there's no honesty on those shows either because they try to screw with the public and scare people for not knowing but in reality, most people knows jack schit!

Case in point, the biggest crap that this country has ever had, invented by non other than George D0uche, the Terrorist Allert, *** is that?

TV shows just like to screw with people. BTW, I'm going to Taco Bell and order me a green onion only taco.........anybody wanna come?

My mother worked for Food Lion then, and still does. She is a meat cutter in the meat department... anyway, she has been working there for like 18 years, and she remembers how hard Food Lion's sales were hit because of these "undercover" CBS people. They applied for jobs just like any regular employee, then stabbed Food Lion in the ass. Now tell me that TV reports are credible when they pull this kind of bull****. They blew most of the **** way out of proportion, and they prompted Food Lion to withdraw out of Texas because they were having such a hard time getting business there anyway.

I wish they would try to do some live report trying to degrade (whether we deserved it or not) where I work, just so I can get charged for assault and battery. God I hate reporters.

EDIT: By the way Nasgul, they won for a couple million, but some dumbass judge took their reward down to a couple hundred thousand for no real reason. God I hate judges.

Maybe some mobos don't support it in the $5-10 dollar range sometimes I forget there are motherboards for less than $250.

Seriously it really pays off to know at least basic things about the insides of your computer, computer repairs are a lot like auto repair shops, they obviously aren't all bad or out to steal your money but my dad used to work at a used car/repair shop him and his friend started but he says they closed down because to stay competitive and make a living you almost have to be dishonest and he couldn't stand it. If you know enough about your computer to plug in your IDE cable and save yourself $275, I'd say that's worth it lol.

Then again, some people don't even know that you can open a computer case and that there are actual parts inside the case
