Overclocking Asus P8Z77-V LX Motherboard w/ Intel i5 3570k

Hi Everyone,

After asking amongst my friends they remain clueless as to why my overclocking is not going the way as planned.
Before I go on and show pictures, I would like to let you know that this is current what "System" and "CPU-Z" are showing me.

Ok, so here we are at the main menu of my BIOS, a mouse is quite nice to use. But look carefully, it only shows 3.4Ghz whenever I have set it to overclock it to 4.2Ghz.

In the "AI Tweaker" menu, we can clearly see that the settings that I have input should be getting to 4.2Ghz.

In the "CPU Power Management" tab, you can clearly see I have set the multiplier as 42.

In the "DIGI + VRM" tab, these are just settings I follow from a tutorial though I doubt they matter too much.

In "Advanced/CPU Configuration" you can see that once again it is only showing the 3.4Ghz speed (Please note this is after I restarted and such).

And finally..

So if anyone could help me out with this I'd greatly appreciate it, thanks!

I should also mention that my CPU gets to around 28-29 degrees idle and around 35-36 when playing games so perfectly acceptable for overclocking.

Bump.

It won't change in bios nor in the windows properties thing.

In cpuz you can see that you are at 4.2

trust that. Dont worry about that one bios thing that shows you the stock speeds along with the stepping and other stuff.

Just stress test it and go higher!
Small wonder.

I would expect it at least to change in the BIOS though :/

What do you suggest I try stress-testing it with?

People use:
Prime95 with custom settings, RAM at 85-90% 12hrs [most will recommend]
IntelBurnTest on MAXIMUM or Custom settings of RAM 85-90$ for at least 25runs
OCCT - not sure yet still trying to figure that out, seems to be 1 hour of all 4 settings

Let me ask you this. Why are you worried about it?

If they want proof show them a cpuz screenshot.

CPUZ is telling you correctly window's doesn't most gadgets use what windows tells them. CPUZ reads straight off of the mobo sensors.

Mine is OCed to 4.6 my windows 8 tells me 3.4

Small wonder.
