Twin Frozr III 6950 2GB idling at around 50 degrees

Thread Starter
This doesn't exactly seem normal. Seems like one of the fans isn't blowing as hard as the other, but I'm not 100% sure.

I cleaned out all the dust that I could, and currently have a huge 200mm CM Megaflow fan on the side panel over the 6950, with a 140mm intake fan and another exhaust (120mm) on the top of the case. I used to have two of these cards in Crossfire and this seems high for a single card in a case with sufficient airflow. Thoughts? Should I RMA?

I have a second 6950 coming (HIS IceQ) but I already changed my mind about going back to Crossfire and will be selling both cards and getting a 7970GHz in the next week or two. I don't want to sell a busted card to somebody thumb.gif

EDIT: right now I'm running on two displays (see sig), browsing the web and streaming music via Google Play. Gonna monitor my temps while playing Bioshock Infinite today.

It's completely normal. Mine idles at 55C. It idles hot because it can't drop into its lowest power state due to multiple monitors.

EDIT: For reference, at max load I'm hitting around 75C @ 1.2v w/ 880MHz Core, 1375MHz vRAM, and 70% fan.
