Here's Simcas review:

That's the card i was looking in to getting.

and this is what Asus markets it as being capable of doing:

"With a built-in headphone amp that can power headphones up to 600 ohms and 6.3 mm headphone jacks, the STX makes a perfect pair with high-end headphones."

That is a great card, it's pretty much exactly the same as my Xonar Xense, just mine has a fancy chrome EMI shield over it. Just because it can drive 600 Ohm headphones doesn't mean you need to use 600 Ohm headphones though wink.gif

I edited the title, I am open to suggestions for 250Ohm as well. Throw some good headphone recommendations at me please!

Edit: I guess what I'm asking is to convince me to go to another brand besides Beyerdynamics within the given specs (or at least something comparable if not better). If you cant, I will probably just end up sticking with them.

What kind of music do you listen to? Will this be for solely music, a bit of gaming, films?

All of the above actually but mostly gaming and music. I play alot of FPS games and I love having crisp, clear highs to hear all the details if that makes sense. Bass doesnt mean a whole lot to me except in music and I actually do listen to alot of dubstep. So I guess I need headphones that are capable of deep bass when I want it as well.

The DT990s would be a good option and would make great use of the STX. Also the Ultrasone Pro 650s or 750s.

Really, the high impedance just makes things easier on most amplifiers, and it could also mean that you get less background hiss from whatever noise levels are present. It's not really a big deal or any criteria to search by unless maybe you really love some particular OTL tube amp you own (which I'm guessing is not your situation).

250+ ohms:
Beyerdynamic DT 770 / 880 / 990 / 250 (some versions) and also many of the Tesla line like T1, T70
Sennheiser HD 580 / 600 / 650 / 800
AKG old-school discontinued K240 models

Again, the impedance is not a big deal, but regardless, don't overlook the Sennheisers.
