Plus there's the Tahiti LE variant (7930 essentially), which sell for close to the same price here as the GHz Edition (not sure about UK pricing).

I looked for the Tahiti version on the sit he provided and couldn't find it. I was going to suggest that as well.

This is the two we have in the states.

This is the only 7870 tahiti le that I could find (apart from a crappy single fan version):
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sapphire-11199-20-20G-CrossFireX-Multi-GPU-Technology/dp/B00AX2ONI0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1365282812&sr=8-1&keywords=7870+xt

It looks cool, and cooling should be good. From what I've read about it, it's nearly a 7950, which seems like a pretty sick deal biggrin.gif

Opinions? Would this be that much more future proof than a 660? If I get the 660, I'll probably overclock it too, so bear that in mind. The thing is, for £200 quid I could get a 660, and a good headset, but I need £250 is I go with the 7870. Why is my life so difficult :< I don't think I can get through this.

Just FYI, the ASUS HD7870 isn't all that great in noise/temps/performance. The GTX 660 in general is weaker OCed to 1150 than a HD7850 @1200MHz.

Sapphire HD7870XT is £204 http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00AX2ONI0/

Dude, where you getting the 7850>660 thing from? The 660 is just below the 7870 in gaming. I have a link to the video in my first post. And yeah, I saw the sapphire one.

+ known fact HD7850 clocks to HD7950 levels, HD7950>GTX660

Also, if you get a GTX 660, try to get the ASUS one (http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0098VKIRM/). It has ASP1212 voltage controller re-branded as DIgiVRM+ instead of the reference OnSemi garbage. smile.gif

The MSI HAWK GTX 660 is also a good choice but is slightly louder.

"Known fact"? Sorry but overclocking is never guaranteed and 7850's that reach 7950 levels aren't common..

I was asking myself this question a few months ago when upgrading my GPU, I went with a Sapphire 7870 XT with a tahiti chip even though my original budget was 150~200 and was going to get a 650 but I put in the extra for the 7870 XT because they are overclockable to be on par with the 7950 from what I've read. I'm not disappointed one bit. its about 250 for the card on newegg with a 10$ rebate, and with the 7870 you get bioshock infinite (50$) and Tomb Raider (50$) so really you getting the card for 140~150 if you think of it like that.

I have no problems running any games aside from AC3 and Arma3 but that is purely from my CPU being a dinosaur, I haven't even tried OCing yet because I can run everything maxed most games 60+ or 30+ fps. And with the Sapphire card (two fans) my card does not go above 70C in a a hotbox I call my room tongue.gif

I can't say anything wrong with nvidia because I had always used them before I got this 7870 and never had any troubles, and so far likewise with AMD :]
