Thread Starter
Precision X has a Frame rate target and want to know what frame rate I should set it to when playing RTS & FPS games.

RTS games: StarCraft 2 and Sim City

FPS games: BF3

Frame rate target just means frame rate limit or cap. If you set it to a certain value, then your frame rate will never exceed that value. This is done to avoid screen tearing, as well as physics bugs in games that use the Gamebryo/Creation engine. It should be set to the same value as your monitor's refresh rate, which is 60 for most.

Okay so 60 frames is good?

Just want to know because if I don't set target frame, games are running over 100 plus frame rate and GPU fan is running high.

yup, in most games there's a setting called v-sync which limits the fps to the refresh rate of the monitor, most all LCDs are 60hz. And yeah it extends the life of a GPU because you never see more than the monitors fastest fps/refresh rate
