Budget CPU to not bottleneck 840 SSD?

Just about web browsing and casual usage.

Doing a low budget build with SSD as only hard drive. However, this is for a friend, so OCing is probably a bad idea, as I have very little time to stress test and I would need to go over to fix it if anything goes wrong.

What kind of cheap CPU could I get? I want it to always remain fast no matter what kind of silly things they do which does not optimize performance.

Define "cheap."

My definition of "cheap" is anything below $250.

I'd like to keep CPU + mobo under $150 if possible. matx is fine. Canada.

I would look into getting a AMD APU setup since this would fit perfectly into your price range and you can save money if you don't need a dedicated GPU or looking to game on a budget. I don't know what you want to go for as in terms of cores but they offer the A6(dual core), and A8/A10's for quads. If you are sure you are not going to overclock, buy the non K series models.

Common misconception.

I dont see a even a 1 core bottlenecking an 840, because putting the 840 in the machine to begin with removes the largest bottleneck in virtually any given system.

If you don't want or need a dedicated GPU get an AMD APU over an Intel one, while their CPU's are weaker their GPU's are far, far superior because I assume you will want to play some games and Intel are just terrible for anything other than watching films and browsing the net.

Edit: just checked NCIX and they have a relatively small selection of hardware.

Personally I would recommend the A8-5600K and this Asrock or this Asrock motherboard but they're Newegg and not NCIX. I am not aware of any hardware stores in Canada or near you.

While its obvious to me that HDD is the biggest bottleneck, do you have any source for a single core being enough? Ie. windows 7 bootup benchmark. Take a bunch of CPUs and one very fast SSD, compare.
