dave, what voltages are you running on all of your components on the 5520? like the nb and sb, cpu pll, qpi etc. i cant find stable voltages for this chip @200 bclk. it always wants more qpi voltage even though i'm already at 1.4v. could this be from other voltages? i'm currently running 166 with all settings on auto at about 3GHz

I don't know man. The only things i touched was DRAM voltage (1.65V) and 1.35V QPI/Vtt. Other than that, i didn't touch any Vsetting
I have to run 1.22V QPI/Vtt at 2.4GHz (2.51 turbo) because i had been getting crashes
Oh wait, i remembered what else i touched
QPI PLL & IOH CORE 1.2V
CPU PLL @ 1.8V, reduce or increase for stability i think. I have mine @ 1.7V for stability

Every chip and motherboard is a bit different though, I know the EX58-UD5 cracked WR for BCLK speed on air from one of our mods on OCN
It will easily do 200MHz BCLK on air, that is.

the problem i think i'm having is that my motherboard doesn't give me the option to adjust the qpi pll. i'm gonna go ahead and try for the voltages you gave me and see if that helps, i did have my cpu pll at 1.85 while i was overclocking, so that could have been my problem

i can't believe it.. it's actually stable! decreasing the cpu pll to 1.75v actually stabilized it! thanks a ton dude, i never would have figured that out on my own biggrin.gif

Although i'm having it at 1.8V now but grats dude! biggrin.gif Nehalem is indeed a bit strange but OC'ing it is fun as hell, unlike IB and SB where you simply bump up the multipliers and the voltage tongue.gif

My xeon 3440 ran at 4GHz folding for a year. Folding required water. Girlfriend has that machine now and it's on air at 4GHz but not folding. It was a relatively easy overclock, too. I didn't have to fight with it like my other builds.

It's the "peen" computer in my rig list. I need to update that info when I get home... BTW, I got the xeon, mobo, and RAM from an OCN member used for like $500 or so a FEW years ago. I think.
