HD 7970 GHz or GTX 670 or GTX 680 ? - Page 2

go with the cheapest of the three.

btw, i only use Device Manager to uninstall the old driver. I make sure to check that little box that says . . . " delete driver software for this device". Reboot and install new driver. Never had issues. Going from Nvidia to AMD or vice versa, then you may have to follow the steps in this thread . . .

Greetings, I run the same OS and have a pair of XFX 7970 GHz DDs. I don't experience any of the driver problems you mentioned there. If I want to install a new driver, I just uninstall the old one using AMDs installation manager. Reboot and install the new one. Works without any problems so far.

As for your initial question:
I bought the 7970 GHz Edition over the GTX 680 because around here, the GTX 680 cards are sure quite a bit more expensive. I also dislike nVidias latest card and pricing policy reagrding the Titan and the GTX 6x0 high-end cards, so switching over to AMD was a silent form of protest. So far I am happy with the choice. Regardless of which card you chose, none of the choices are bad at all! However if they offer you a GTX 670 or a GTX 680, I'd take the latter one for sure - it just has more power. In terms of performance, the 7970 GHz should be slightly better overall, but it always depends on the specific game and the settings used. Sometimes the GTX 680 has a lead, sometimes it is the other way around.

I would defiantly recommend the 7970 if its no extra cost. At least the 680 not the 670.
