BIG mouse, Deathadder VS G400 VS Naos

Thread Starter
OK so the story is this. I was using a Razer Diamondback LE for 6 years and last year I decided to go for something new. The diamondback hasn't died but it has excessive wear (plus my mother trying to clean it with alcohol and destroying the rubber coating on the buttons....ouch!) that's why I went for a new mouse.

So, having a big palm I went for Roccat Kone (the first edition 3200 dpi back then). I should add that my grip style is mostly Claw.

The Kone is the best mouse I have handled shape-wise but on the heavy size compared to what I was used to (even with no weights added)
But the worst thing was I found the tracking to be very jittery... I was using a Steelseries QCK at the time which I had bought with the diamondback and I thought I'd change to a new mat in case that was the problem. I bought a Roccat Taito to be sure it was matching and things got better but not totally jitter-free.

Being fed up I thought the problem was due to the laser sensor, and since I dont need more than 2000 dpi I decided to go for an optical mouse.
I bought a deathadder 3.5g and balance was restored. Indeed the tracking felt just like I was used to with the Diamondback and 1800 dpi was great.

Unfortunately there was a disaster and my deathadder died....so searching for something new, I saw the Roccat Savu which has received praising reviews. I also learnt that laser mice need hard pads to play nicely so maybe it was my fault that the original Kone didnt track nicely and now that I got a Steelseries 9HD maybe Kone XTD would be an option, but because I didnt want to risk it and I find Savu for a very attractive price, I went for it.

The savu was a disappointment to me. Using it at 1600 dpi did not feel the same as the deathadder. Again I felt a little jittery. This should probably be my foult of some kind (pad, HZ or something) but I didn't try to solve it because there was a bigger problem for me. The mouse was simply too small for me to claw-grip so it was a no go.

So I am now searching for a new mouse and my needs are those :
1) BIG I need something close to 130mm length, the Savu being 119mm was not even close.
2) 1600-2000 dpi is what I'd use, I want something that has a native setting around there, 1800 being the optimal.
3) Fairly light no more than 110grams
4) Preferably optical

So my options as I see it now are those :

1) Deathadder 2013/3.5g/3g
This is tried and tested for me (the 3.5g) and it worked, so unless there is a good point to try something else I'd go for this

2) Logitech G400
It's optical, it's big, it has 1800dpi setting...it's cheap...what else can I say, it seems fine, only thing is I read about the angle snapping and PIDs etc and buying online/ebay unfortunately I can't check those things before I receive it...

3) Mionix Naos 3200
Optical, the biggest of the lot, and ergonomic. Unfortunately "only" 1600 dpi for me to use but no biggie, and kinda hard to find

I am peronally leaning towards the Deathadder just because it just works, and I am fed up with unsuccessful tries....but I'd like your opinion...

Also I should add, I tried finding a new Diamondback 3G in ebay but there is none. And also, if I go the deathadder route, the 2013 is nice, but the 3G version already satisfies my needs and can be had for half the price, so there's a dilema for me...

Deathadder 2013 for sure. You've already tried it. Might as well go for it.

Yeah, the D.A. 3.5G has the same shape as the 4G, but the 4G has rubber sides and an updated sensor, so I too vote for the D.A. 4G.

The G400 seems to be the best for me, and I have large hands. I couldn't really grip the Deathadder will, especially because of the glossy plastic. Get the Black Edition if you are going for it.

You could try them out in stores. That's always really helpful.

The 2013 version has rubber... Why would the glossy Black Edition be better than the 2013?

Best Buy has the D.A. 2013 at $60 instead of $70, but Amazon and Newegg have it at $55. Would Best Buy price match?

G400 isn't as good on 1600 as it is on 800, so DA should be your best bet.

Btw: Savu is best at 800 dpi as well.

He said he wanted a DA 3.5G or 3G. The black edition (not the glossy one) is the best feeling of all of those.

I have both. I can't discern any difference in tracking quality at 1800 or 800/900 DPI. Most of the difference you see in reviews is due to the different surfaces people use.

The O.P.'s first choice has these as wanted, so why would the non-2013 choices be better than the 2013?

If u order a G400 with a store that has to restock regularly they're bound to have the ones without angle snapping tbh.

Dunno. The OP just wanted 3.5G or 3G. It's not like the 4G is really an upgrade when you only need 1800DPI.
